Autophagy regulates lipid metabolism

Our recent findings established association between autophagy and regulation of hepatic lipid metabolism and adipose tissue biology, thereby providing new mechanistic insights into the regulation of these complex processes. These findings highlight the possibility of novel therapeutic options, such as differential organ-specific regulation of autophagy, to solve problems arising form lipid over accumulation in conditions such as the metabolic syndrome.
