Epitranscriptomically regulated lncRNAs: genetic contributors and potential therapeutic targets for inflammatory disorders
Ainara Castellanos
Alterations in lncRNA function and RNA modifications have been related to inflammation but the involvement of epitranscriptomically regulated lncRNAs (erlncRNAs) in the development of inflammatory disorders remains elusive. In my lab we are studying inflammation associated erlncRNAs, providing new insights into the genetic basis and progressing towards innovative therapies for these disorders.
Short CV:
Ainara Castellanos-Rubio is an Ikerbasque Research Associate in the University of the Basque Country. She did her PhD on genetics in Cruces Hospital and afterwards she moved to Columbia University for her postdocotoral training. During that period, she discovered and characterized a lncRNA associated to intestinal inflammation. Since 2017 she is an Ikerbasque Scientist in the UPV-EHU where she studies the intercross of noncoding RNAs, disease variants and epitranscriptomics in the context of inflammatory disorders.
