The General Secretary of the Socialist Party in the Basque Country, Patxi López, visits the CIC bioGUNE facilities

The General Secretary of the Socialist Party in the Basque Country, Patxi López, visited the CIC bioGUNE facilities on the 12th of February in order to receive first-hand information on the projects that are being developed at the centre.

During the visit the socialist representatives were escorted by the general manager of CIC bioGUNE, José M Mato, and the scientific manager of CIC biomaGUNE, Manuel Martín Lomas. The candidates for Vizcaya to the Senate and the Congress, Eduardo Madina, Arantza Mendizábal and Lentxu Rubial, were also present at this tour.

Mato himself explained that "a country that wants to be modern and have a dynamic economy has to be prepared, and biotechnology is an important factor in its growth and activity". "The only way to start up a biotechnological sector is by means of powerful research centres with great facilities that have the capacity to attract the best researchers from all around the world", said the general manager of CIC bioGUNE.
