New insight into the role of Wnt-11 in prostate cancer
Researchers from the Cell Biology and Stem Cells Unit at CIC bioGUNE and Imperial College London have studied the function of Wnt-11 in prostate cancer. They report that Wnt-11 promotes prostate tumour cell survival, migration and differentiation into neuroendocrine-like cells. These are all the hallmarks of recurrent disease and therefore the results may provide an opportunity for novel therapies. The study is published in Molecular Cancer. The image shows a human prostate tumour with high expression of Wnt-11 (brown staining).
