0000-0002-7358-3505Adriana L Rojas obtained her BSc in Physics from the National University of Colombia and her PhD from the University of São Paulo (USP), São Carlos, Brazil. Before that period, she also worked at the Pasteur Institute / Instituto Pasteur in Paris (France).
Dr. Rojas joined the laboratory of Prof. Igor Polikarpov, University of São Paulo (USP), to perform structural studies in glycosidases of fungus. In 2005, Dr. Rojas moved to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to Jim Hurley’s laboratory, focusing on intracellular trafficking, particularly in structural studies of the retromer complex.
In 2009, Dr. Rojas joined CIC bioGUNE as the Macromolecular Crystallography Platform Manager to support internal users and offer collaborative research to external researchers. In 2019, she became the manager of the Electron Microscopy Platform. The joint of both platforms, X-ray, and EM, exemplifies the integrative approaches derived from the recent technological and computational advancements to tackle more challenging problems. Furthermore, the position has allowed her to develop a profound understanding of diverse experimental approaches that harmonize effectively with contemporary trends in molecular and cellular structural biology.
